How to enhance your profile to attract more people.
A lot of people in Australia turn to online dating hoping to find lots of interesting people with little or no effort. Online dating sites offer a unique platform to find people but first you’ll need to know how they work and the dynamics of it. A key factor in online dating is to be able to create an attractive profile that will catch other people’s attention.
These are our tips on how to create a winning profile!
1. Be Honest. Being yourself will increase your chances of finding someone that suits you better. Don’t emulate somebody else’s personality just because you think that they are very good with the opposite sex. There are plenty of other people out there dating online and trust us, many of them are looking for someone just like you. Even if you manage to catch somebody’s attention chances are that you will be dumped once they find out who you really are. Many dating sites like eHarmony and Smartdate offer state-of-the-art matching technology that will help you find your perfect match….but it will only work if you are honest when creating your profile.
2. Be unique. Try to be interesting. Have a look at other profiles (Remember you can join several webpages for free and check many of them!) and try to differentiate yourself from them. Don’t just list the hobbies or sports that you practice. Go beyond that. For example: does your hobby take you to exciting places? Do you compete at the sport that you practice?
3. Load up a photo. You will find that adding a photo can increase your chances of being contacted by somebody else by 7 to 10 times. You have to be careful when you choose a photo as you don’t want to give a wrong impression. For example plain frontal photos of your face tend to work well. Choose a photo that shows you as you are (i.e. not lots of makeup) and avoid photos that try to show off any physical attributes (i.e. shirtless photos to show off your muscles ;).
4. Focus on your niche. You must have a clear understanding of who you want to meet and build your profile around it. For example, don’t place so much emphasis on your physical appearance/ attributes if you are looking to find someone to suit your intellect. Also remember that different dating websites attract different type of people. You won’t find the same type of people in Benaughty as in eHarmony or B2. That’s why you need to read our reviews and check many sites before you can commit and devote your energy to few more suitable sites.
5. Be clear and concise. Long profiles are boring and people usually leave before they finish reading the whole thing. Also make it easy to read and funny.
6. Nick name. This is how people will remember you and search for you in the community. Once you have created a nick name you CAN’T change it, so be careful before you decide what you want. Avoid nick names that can be offensive or anything that could portray you as intolerant or abusive (even if you think it sounds cool). Don’t choose nick names that are too popular or overused (like bunny69) or that are too boring or plain (like your initials and your date of birth). Sometimes your nickname from high school works fine or if you have a catchy name why not use it?
